A record increase of 594 cases, the number of people infected with corona in Korea increased to nearly 3,000

(Dan Tri) – This morning, February 29, South Korea recorded 594 new cases of Covid-19, the sharpest increase since the outbreak broke out in the country.

The number of Covid-19 infections in Korea increased sharply.

Yonhap quoted information from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) saying that this morning, February 29, the country recorded 594 additional cases of Covid-19 infection, bringing the total number of infections here to 2,931 cases.

Of the 594 new cases, 476 cases are in the epicenter of Daegu, 60 cases are in North Gyeongsang.

Yesterday, South Korea recorded 571 cases of infection.

The number of new Covid-19 infections in South Korea began to increase sharply in recent days after health officials in the country began testing followers of Tan Thien Dia – the sect linked to most of the cases.

In the context of a strong outbreak of Covid-19 in Korea, as of this morning February 29, more than 70 countries and territories have either banned entry or tightened entry regulations for people coming from or passing through Korea.

The problem of shortage of hospital beds

KCDC Deputy Director Kwon Jun-wook said: `It is currently difficult to confirm when the epidemic will peak.`

In Daegu, the majority of cases are related to the Shincheonji sect.

The Korean Ministry of Health also told the press that, as of the afternoon of February 28, nearly 86% of beds at hospitals designated for Covid-19 treatment nationwide were filled.

Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin has proposed moving Covid-19 patients to medical facilities in other areas to ease the current overcrowding situation at the epicenter of the epidemic.

Experts say that patients with mild symptoms can be isolated at home, while recovering patients can be discharged from the hospital earlier to free up hospital beds.
