Mary Katrantzou continues to shake hands with Adidas
In an interview with Hunger TV, the queen of printing – Mary Katrantzou – shared some things about her second collaborative project with the Adidas brand.
In your opinion, is there any difference between designing sportswear products versus ready-to-wear products?
Actually it has a lot of differences.
Can you share with us a few things about this collection?
My second collection with Adidas will be more diverse than the previous collection in terms of designs.
Our job is to design drawings, play with materials, lines and textures and then combine them together, making them a piece of the symbol.
Are there any differences in the product printing process?
For this special collection we are applying the same printing method to our own collection.
We will apply the same prints to shoe models.
What was the first material used to make sportswear products?
We sifted through numerous archives of Adidas apparel and high-tech materials.
Because the number of products is too much?
Yes, and also because this is an International brand, they produce all types of products at all qualities, produce for all markets, and we find it very interesting to be able to work with them.
Does that mean you feel challenged and limited in your creativity?
That’s right!
What do you think about today’s digital printing technology?
Exactly.
