Laxmi Saa, a 26-year-old woman who was the victim of a brutal acid attack, has now become the face of Viva N Diva – a major Indian brand specializing in manufacturing and supplying designer saris.

Co-collaborator Rupesh Jhawar shared: “In a moment, I realized the beauty of that woman from a deeper perspective and I wanted to capture that moment to remove the hurt.

Laxmi Saa has become one of the social activists who spoke out against acid attacks in India.

In a world where people judge women based on their appearance, not only Laxmi Saa but other victims are often left behind with their self-esteem and confidence depleted and shattered.

Even though women are attacked with acid and their beauty is destroyed to the point of disfigurement, there is another thing that no chemical can destroy, which is their courage.

The incident that happened to Laxmi Saa when she was only 15 years old because she refused a marriage proposal from a 32-year-old man left permanent burns on the girl’s face, neck and hands.

These types of acid attacks are completely unfamiliar to Indian women. Every year in this country, from 500 to 1,000 women have to endure acid attacks that leave victims devastated.

Laxmi Saa said that this is an opportunity to become the face of a fashion brand as well as a platform for other women in similar situations to be more confident and courageous despite having physical injuries.
